Onboarding Buddy

Purpose

This role serves as the primary supporting go-to person for the new VSHNeer during onboarding, plans and tracks role- or team-specific onboarding objectives, and provides guidance and feedback.

  • Track role- (and team-)specific onboarding progress.

  • Be available at short notice for questions and assistance for the new VSHNeer.

  • Ensure role-specific education.

  • Provide feedback on onboarding progress.

  • Assist with role-specific technical setup.

Whom does this role deliver value to, and what do they need from this role?

New VSHNeer
  • Close assistance with getting started during the first day and first week (usually in the office).

  • Primary go-to person.

  • Provide situational direction and connect them with relevant people for topics the Buddy cannot answer.

  • Critical constructive feedback on progress.

  • Collaborative planning of measures, initiatives, and tasks to achieve onboarding objectives.

People (Overview and Governance)
  • Feedback on role-specific onboarding (usually during bi-weekly check-ins).

  • Planning of role-specific onboarding and tracking of objectives.

Dependencies

Who and what does this role depend on?

People (Overview and Governance)
  • The overall onboarding program being established and owned, including the planning of check-ins.

  • Assistance in tricky personal situations or with other impediments that go beyond the team’s scope.

Corporate IT
  • Working and pre-configured VSHN tooling accounts, access, etc.

  • Working and pre-configured personal notebook (for non-technical VSHNeers - engineers configure them themselves).

People Operations
  • The administrative onboarding process is handled, and everything possible is ready by the first working day.

Constraints

  • Getting help with day-to-day work is not the primary responsibility of this role, but this role provides direction and contributes.

  • This role is temporary and applies only for the onboarding and trial period (usually 3 months).

  • This role is (with exceptions as coordinated with the People Role) reserved for VSHNeers who have worked at VSHN for more than 1 year.
