Trial Period

The first three months after entering the service are considered as the trial period.

During the trial period

During the trial period, the new VSHNeer is introduced to their new tasks in a targeted manner following a written introductory program. The new VSHNeer is given all the information about their area of responsibility, team colleagues, organisation and objectives of the Squad, etc. The new VSHNeer is then introduced to their new tasks in a written introductory programme. During this time, the new VSHNeer will also gain a deeper insight into the company’s philosophy and culture, history, products and services.

During these three months a short review with their Mentor will take place every two weeks. It’s important to find out whether the employee has received the information on the following points:

Information about
  • What does VSHN do?

  • What are the different Squads doing?

  • How to work with Jira and how to create tasks?

  • How to do attendance tracking in Odoo?

  • How to do worklogs?

  • When are all the regular meetings held, and what meetings are available?

  • Where to find the best food in town?

  • Where are all the things located in the VSHN office?

  • General company processes.

  • Personnel department, whom to contact.

  • Corporate clubs (for example DnD, "beering," concerts).

  • Training opportunities (point out that it must be demanded by the new employee).

  • Organisation chart.

  • Organisational information/processes.

  • Products and services.

  • Safety regulations/emergency.

Assessment of the work
  • How does the induction process proceed?

  • How’s the work progress and workload checked?

  • Introductory programme implemented according to plan?

  • Necessary changes implemented.

  • Are the working results correct?

  • Is the job description still correct?

  • Main tasks and goals clearly defined?

  • Does work meet expectations?

  • Further training necessary?

  • Does the new VSHNeer feel comfortable?

  • Workplace and climate.

  • Are there any wishes, suggestions or potential for improvement?

End of trial period

According to the employment contract, the trial period ends after three months. An extension due to holiday, illness or accident is possible.

If the trial period expires, it makes sense to consider the first weeks of work together with the new employee. In the so-called trial period interview, the work performance, integration into the team, etc., is discussed or assessed between the new employee and the Squad Master (and possibly a representative of HR). After this discussion, the trial period report is drawn up. The report provides information about the trial period. It’s important that all parties can prepare seriously for this interview. Not least because it’s probably one of the last opportunities to terminate the employment relationship with a shortened notice period.

Possible topics for the trial period interview

  • General satisfaction of the new employee.

  • Do they feel safe in their working environment?

  • Degree of target fulfilment in the introduction period.

  • Assessment of

    • Expertise.

    • Work performance (quantity/quality).

    • Personal behaviour.

  • Team integration.

  • Adjustment of the job description.

  • Further training.

  • Whereabouts, transfer, resignation (Will they stay with us?)

  • Target agreements.

  • Are there any wishes, suggestions or potential for improvement?
